What does a modern teacher in Europe look like? What skills are needed to shape the future of education in Ukraine?
These questions were at the heart of the presentation of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project “Teacher’s Skills for the United Europe of the 21st Century: Lessons for Ukraine”, implemented by Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University.
The project aims to develop key 21st-century teaching competencies, introduce European educational practices, and strengthen the integration of Ukrainian education into the European educational space.
During the presentation, participants:
- learned about the project’s goals and concept;
- explored the expected outcomes;
- discussed current educational challenges and transformations.
Special attention was given to the educational modules that will soon be available for different target groups:
- “Developing 21st-Century Teacher Skills: From the EU to Ukraine” (for PhD students), delivered by Project Coordinator, Professor Nataliia Tkachenko.
- “European Practices for Creativity Development” (for Master’s students), delivered by Professor Vira Kurok, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
- “Digital Education: EU Experience for Ukraine” (for Master’s students), delivered by Associate Professor Andrii Hrytsenko.
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Summer School “Future Skills: 21st-Century Focus and EU Innovative Initiatives”, which will bring together:
- university lecturers,
- college educators,
- school teachers,
- community activists ect.
The Summer School will provide a platform for professional development, experience sharing, and familiarization with European educational practices.
Today, education is not only about knowledge is about the skills that shape the future. Initiatives like this help Ukrainian educators become active participants in European educational transformation.
